Painful memories of those back to back Newcastle defeats, but back further than that I remember things like sides singing FA Cup songs on Blue Peter when I was a child. Even better though I can't recall specific games I just remember the 'event' it wassitting with my Dad from early morning with Saint & Greavsie previewing the game and then switching over to Des Lynam and his wonder tache on Grandstand taking us with the teams on their coach ride to Wembley from above. It was a whole day event. While Newcastle went out yesterday think it might be time to make a point of watching the final with my Dad again this year!

West Brom 1 Everton 0, 1968. As a six-year-old Statto it stuck in my mind that Jeff Astle had scored in every round.
